CRISIS AND SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION

Abstract

The term crisis, in history, is associated to critical moments, processes of decay, conflict and rupture, involving various forms of human relationships. Nowadays, everything is considered permanently involved in successive processes of crisis, pushing developments and transformations. The inevitability of the occurrence of these processes opens a hope for a way out of the crisis, from a perspective of satisfying needs, in individual relationships, institutions, communities and environment, transmuting losses into benefits. The question that arises is: how to intervene in order to contribute to the crisis resolution? Our hypothesis moves towards a position of awareness of the problems that are at the origin of the crisis, towards the convergence of dialogues, contributions and concrete actions towards overcoming them. This requires preparation by the parties, a willingness to understand things, implying an opening to the necessary broadening of horizons, access to an update of the hermeneutical situation, as well as a determination to intervene together, at the heart of problematic issues. This theme proves to be crucial, as the effects of chronic crises and emerging conflicts increasingly put at risk the possibility of being able to intervene in them constructively and in a timely manner.
