Abstract

Despite the imposing national struggle to solidify the notion of babies as protagonist subjects, in some institutions, they are kept isolated in the nurseries. Prevented from acting on the world, they experience a routine guided by basic cares (hygiene, health, food) and also by the execution of activities, whose language, many times decontextualized, strengthen their condition as incapable. That said, this text aims to bring up the activity of telling the story “Let’s play with me?”, a project at Mato Grosso State University (UEMS), which focuses on an experience of singing and playing with children up to three years old. The experience has been developed since 2010 in different places in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul (MS). Specifically for this article, in the light of historic-cultural referential, we analysed some scenes market by aspects of the traditional game Peekaboo (hide/find) highly appreciated by babies. As methodology, we have used fragments of records in the project’s book collection and reports of participants who carried on the project in the community. As result, we emphasize how feasible and necessary it is to propose cultural activities for babies, as well as the importance of this project for the initial training of future teachers. The students of the Pedagogy course at UEMS were able to see that the multiple possibilities of communication with babies come from the sensorial sphere, hence glimpse the use of the dialogue of gaze, touch, time spent for the observation, orality, and gesture expression in their work with childhood Education Institutions
