Abstract

The State University Vale do Acaraú was founded over 50 years ago, while the Student Assistance Program (PAE) was created 4 years ago. What was the impact of this program on the lives of students? The aim of the study was to listen to and analyze the autobiographical narrative of a student to identify the challenges and opportunities of his personal and academic formative experience as a resident of the University Residence. The research was based on Coulon (2017), Larossa (2011; 2002), Astigarraga (2010; 2019), Bragança (2011), and Delory-Momberger (2006). After the student overcame the difficulties of living alone and became socially engaged with his peers, we found that the Residence contributed to his education as it facilitated the transition from undergraduate to graduate studies.
