Abstract

Abstract: although the study of grammar includes three dimensions – form, meaning, and use (Larsen-Freeman, 2001; Brown; Lee, 2015) – it is commonly associated solely with the formal dimension. There are perspectives that, although not exclusively targeted at teaching, also incorporate aspects of form and meaning into linguistic knowledge, as it is the case of the constructionist perspective (Croft, 2001; Goldberg, 2006; Traugott; Trousdale, 2013). Based on these approaches, the objective of this study is to analyze a material designed for remote English teaching, developed during the pandemic period for public high schools in the state of Rio de Janeiro, but still available online today as supporting material. For the purposes of this article, the chosen grammatical content is connectors. All the mentions to the topic were extracted from the material and analyzed throughout the text. The analysis of the material reveals that the semantic dimension receives the greatest emphasis, while the others receive little or no focus.
