The essay develops, from a philosophical-educational perspective, considerations about the cultural paradigm of postmodernity and its impacts on educational theory and practice. it defends the idea that the criticism made to the Enlightenment rationalism of modernity, by this paradigm, still in the process of constitution, accusing it of having produced a plastered and repressive education, has the merit of explaining many mistakes impregnated in the contemporary pedagogical tradition, thus being able to bring significant contributions to the redirection of education, but it does not provide enough elements to overcome the challenges posed to education, which is still involved by many uncertainties.
