Abstract

The concept of Philosophy of Praxis in Gramsci is discussed and presented as a fundamental element to strengthen a critical professional culture. The importance of the organic link between Social Work and history stands out, from a critical theoretical perspective that recognizes the contradictions of reality and engages in the emancipatory struggles of the working class. The influence of Gramscian thought is analyzed in the proceedings of the III Brazilian Congress of Social Workers. Finally, the article explores how this new vision of society and collective subjects influenced the debate on professional training committed to the lower classes, based on the experience of the UFMA Social Service Course. The research was carried out both through documentary sources in the Annals of the III CBAS and through a bibliographic review.
