This paper departs from the concept of social aesthetics to understand the festive aspects of fandango caiçara. Social aesthetics is defined as a sensitive situation shared among the members of a community. In addition to the properly artistic aspects of the party, an attempt is made to focus on human relationships and collective experiences as an aesthetic experience. The aim is to interpret the social aesthetics of fandango, taking the relationships between participants and community life as sensitive experiences, observing the socially constructed cultural expression through the communities’ tradition. We used ethnography in Social Psychology as a methodology, in contact with fandangueiros and fandangueiras in the city of Ubatuba (São Paulo/Brazil), having as a complementary source a series of videos produced about these practices. The fandangueira community is considered in terms of “social aesthetics”, in which the artistic aspects of the party are inseparable from community relations, in the sensitive experience shared by its members.
