A MORTE NA ANTIGUIDADE E NA CONTEMPORANEIDADE EM SÊNECA E ARIÈS

Resumo

Tema inequivocamente presente no pensamento da civilização, a Morte não se deixa domar. Sempre presente, em suas várias faces, é a grande impulsionadora do desenvolvimento da humanidade. Pretende-se aqui, uma reflexão a respeito dos rumos do entendimento e do significado da Morte. Terá ela mudado na sua relação com o homem? Estará ela mais presente, ou ao contrário, mais distante em uma espécie de anti-naturalidade em comparação como era percebida e tolerada na antiguidade? Para este intento será feita uma breve visitação ao período final do estoicismo, através das ideias de Sêneca, a seguir através de filósofos e historiadores chegar-se há aos dias de hoje com o pensamento de Hans Jonas. Na gênese de suas ideias percebe-se certo alinhamento com alguns aspectos do estoicismo Romano, embora vá mais além.

DEATH IN ANTIQUITY AND CONTEMPORANEITY IN SENECA AND ARIÈS

Abstract

Unmistakably present in the thought of civilization, Death does not allow itself to be tame. Always present, in its various faces, it is the great impeller of the development of humanity. It is intended here, a reflection on the direction of the understanding and meaning of Death. Has it changed its relationship with man? It is more present, or on the contrary, more distant in a kind of anti-naturalness in comparison as it was perceived and tolerated in antiquity? For this purpose a brief visitation will be made to the final period of Stoicism, through the ideas of Seneca, then through philosophers and historians, as in the case of Ariès, to come this day with the thought of Hans Jonas. In the genesis of his ideas one
perceives a certain alignment with some aspects of the Roman Stoicism, although it goes further.

Indéniablement présente dans la pensée de la civilisation, la Mort ne se laisse pas apprivoiser. Toujours présente, sous ses diverses faces, c’est le grand élan du développement de l'humanité. Il s'agit ici d'une réflexion sur le parcours de la compréhension et de la signification de la Mort. A-t-elle changé dans sa relation avec l'homme? Est-elle plus présente, ou au contraire, plus éloigné dans une un état d'antinaturalité par rapport à la façon dont elle était perçue et tolérée dans l'antiquité? A cet effet, une brève tournée sera faite à la période finale du stoïcisme, à travers des idées de Sénèque, puis à travers des philosophes et historiens, en arrivant actuellement avec la réflexion de Hans Jonas. Dans la genèse de ses idées, il y a un certain alignement avec certains aspects du stoïcisme romain, même si cela va plus loin.
