This article starts from a critical review of chapter 5: Doubts and Vulnerability of the book The Artistic Turn: A Manifesto (2009) and aims to bring a discussion about the importance of carrying out Artistic Research in Music in Brazil currently from my point of view as an artist-researcher. Doubts and Vulnerability addresses issues such as the idea of the artist as a hero and the vulnerabilities of artistic activity, important to understanding how we create and relate to our art, to the public and to society. In this context, the authors also discuss the difference between conventional research in the arts and artistic research, an essential comparison to understand their distinct natures. From these premises I make a debate about the current situation of Artistic Research in Brazil and reinforce the authors' idea that this type of research is an opportunity to change paradigms, offer new narratives to the world, new ways of thinking and new interdisciplinaries.
