THE INFLUENCE OF THE PERMISSIVE-INDULGENT PARENTING STYLE IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CHARACTER BRÁS CUBAS

This article aims to study the influence of parenting style, more necessarily the permissive style based on the theoretical Albuquerque (2016), Baumrind (1966) and Weber (2009), on the behavior of Brás Cubas, in the book Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas, written
by Machado de Assis. Before delving into the analysis of the influence that parents had on BrásCubas' life, this article will analyze how the construction of a character is carried out, following as theoretical basis Antônio Candido (1976) and Elvis Couto (2019), the analysis of the creation of the character explains the distinctions between the different ways of acting of an individual and a fictional character, which has all its complexity delimited by the author. In order to carry out the present study on this article, several bibliographical researches were carried out through
the different types of gender and parental styles, as well as the influences that these parents have on the development of the subject, and it was also necessary to deeply study what would be a fictional character , mainly going to the perspective presented by Antônio Candido on what a novel character would be and how this novel character is constructed, which in the case of this article analyzes the entire process of formation and influence of Brás Cubas.
