Abstract

This article aims to analyze the pathos and ethos in a news story taken from the G1 news portal. To achieve it, we will start from the perspective of Amossy's textual analysis in the work Imagens de Si no Discurso (2011). This includes the organization and analysis of categories such as: type of subject for position taking; enunciation procedure; argumentative aim at the use of affective ones that indicate the position of the enunciator/announcer; dominant feelings; lexical choices (aggressive terms, etc.); relevant figures (analogy; metaphor; modals). The results point out that the ethos presented by the announcer G1.globo.com, in general, is that of impartiality, seriousness and credibility, besides revealing a vehicle of denunciation.
