UBERIZATION, REIFICATION OF POVERTY AND PROLETARIAN CLASS CONSCIOUSNESS IN CONTEMPORARY BRAZIL

Abstract

Discussion of the meanings of reification as an update of 20th century webero-marxism of the analyses of the young Lukács (1923), based on the concrete Brazilian situation of economic, political and social crisis, which are expressed both at the level of the technical and economic base, as well as the superstructure. We accept the existence of different forms of existence of the Brazilian proletariat, subject to both the informal labor market, which has been reconfigured in the crisis of the 2000s, and the forms mediated by the technologies operated by the large digital platform companies of contemporary capitalism. From a methodological point of view, it is accepted that these digital structures under the name of platforms, supposedly neutral, are constituted to serve the particular interests of combined capitalist fractions, while accentuating the
precariousness of labour relations, accelerating the process of computerization of work activities in the context of the valorization of capital. Methodologically, the discussions are based on a review of the literature to deal with the problems
outlined; on the other hand, the use of secondary data from national and international databases, and primary data produced using the closed questionnaire technique. Part of the reflections and data presented here were obtained from research into the phenomenon of class consciousness in its theoretical dimension, as well as practical research into technological innovations and labour relations developed by the Study Group on Productive Restructuring, the Globalization of Capital, Social Movements and the Contemporary State (GERME).
