Abstract

The article addresses the intersections between national issues and Marxism in three politicians who dealt with the theme in contexts of social change. For Otto Bauer, Lenin, and Zavaleta Mercado, the theme is linked to others such as: social classes, internal market, national culture, ideology, hegemony, State, democracy, imperialism, and proletarian internationalism. Through a review of the literature, it seeks to answer questions about what constitutes the national issue, its components, contexts of discussion, and underlying theoretical-political categories. By outlining the positions of these
intellectuals, who articulate class and nation and recognize the relative autonomy of politics in relation to the economy, the complexity of the national problem in Marxism is perceived. It concludes that understanding the national issue is essential to
grasp the dynamics between national construction, imperialism, social classes, State, and social struggle from a Marxist perspective.
