Abstract

The current sociopolitical moment in Latin America and Africa is discussed, under the pressing situation of covid-19 pandemic and the occurrence of some setbacks in civilizational achievements. It must be remarked that those societies are tainted by structural racism and habitual negation of basic human rights, such as access to nourishment for most of the people, notably regarding original populations of the Americas and the descendants of those who were forced unto slave labor, all of this motivated by the spoliation of natural resources from this part of the world, in order to fuel capitalism as it ascended to become a global system.
