GARCÍA MÁRQUEZ, ENTRE EL MAR Y LA CORDILLERA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This article aims to show the contrast between the Andean and the Caribbean regions, which are present in Gabriel García Márquez’s work. Through some of the characters in Cien años de soledad and in El amor en los tiempos del cólera demonstrate how the author clearly expresses his preference for the Caribbean region. This preference may be seen not only in the atmosphere of his texts but also in a deeper aspect: its narrative thread I conclude that the author’s feelings towards the Caribbean are a sign of belonging to and identification with a more comprehensive motherland.
