AFRO-MEXICAN POPULATION: From the struggle to end enslavement to existence in the xxi century

Abstract

With this research, we aim to study the historical aspects and the political, social and cultural conformation of the Afro-Mexican population, taking as an outline the population of the State of Guerrero, located on the west coast of Mexico, which has the highest percentage of blacks in its contingents. population (6.5%). The investigation is carried out from the analysis of census data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) in 2015. For that, we used as methodology the bibliographical research, documental research and the contributions of the qualitative-quantitative methodology in the collected material. In the theoretical foundation, we turn to Césaire (2010), Andrews (2007), Segato (2010) among others, who give us support to weave the specialized discussions on this topic. As a result, we point to a common reality in the countries of Afro-Latin America, that of the neglect and erasure of black people, despite the fact that their existence is obvious.
