AGRO-ECOLOGICAL CARTOGRAPHY APPLIED TO ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING

Abstract

The social and environmental impacts generated by agriculture have required more synergistic positions between the sciences that study and collaborate with the development of the agricultural sector. In this sense, agroecology also presents itself as a scientific and technological innovation, favoring regionalized environmental planning actions aimed at agriculture. The objective was to find definitions about agroecological cartography and to make a theoretical-methodological proposition for the theme. An integrative literature review and a  theoretical-methodological proposal were carried out, based on theories and practices related to the environmental planning process. The results of the review indicated that a definition or specific methodology for the terminology had not yet been formulated. Agroecological cartography was defined as an agroenvironmental planning tool and/or instrument. Seven methodological procedures were proposed, which should be previously discussed in a social, participatory articulation without hierarchical
structures, giving priority to a systemic and interdisciplinary view of the work to be carried out. It
was concluded that the proposal should stimulate the development of projects and contribute to the construction of agroecological knowledge.
