About the Journal
Terra de Pretos is a multidisciplinary scientific journal of the Universidade Federal do Maranhão, the Centro de Ciências de Codó, and the Graduate Program in Teaching in Basic Education, aiming to promote and disseminate national and international research in the fields of History, Education, Teaching, Sciences, and Mathematics. The name Terra de Pretos pays tribute to the municipality of Codó, historically and anthropologically known as the “Land of Black People.”

The journal is published annually on a continuous-flow basis.

The journal has assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) starting from the 2025 editions.
Current Issue
The Dossier: Research in Teaching in Basic Education brings together works presented at the I International Seminar on Research in Teaching in Basic Education, held in 2026 and organized by the Graduate Program in Teaching in Basic Education at the Center for Sciences of Codó, Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA).
The articles included in this dossier were submitted to the editorial process of Terra de Pretos Journal, undergoing evaluation in accordance with its current guidelines. Due to the significant number and diversity of contributions, the dossier was organized into three volumes: “Science & Mathematics Education,” “Teaching & Humanities,” and “Teaching & Languages.”
The works gathered here are authored by researchers affiliated with federal and state educational institutions from different regions of Brazil, as well as scholars connected to other institutions and education systems, highlighting the breadth and relevance of the discussions presented.
