CONTRIBUIÇÃO AO CONHECIMENTO DA ECOLOGIA E BIOLOGIA DO CAMARÃO VERMELHO, Penaeus (Farfantepenaeus) subtilis PEREZ – FARFANTE, 1967 NA ILHA DE SÃO LUÍS, ESTADO DO MARANHÃO, BRASIL

Com a finalidade de elevar o conhecimento sobre ecologia e biologia do camarão vermelho, apresentamos esta nova contribuição, que analisa alguns aspectos da pesca e dinâmica populacional da espécie relativa à produção. Os espécimes utilizados são procedentes das localidades de Arraial, Estiva, Pau Deitado e Raposa na Ilha de São Luís, Maranhão – Brasil. Para o estudo da reprodução foi feito o reconhecimento do sexo, classificação dos estágios gonadais, estimação do comprimento médio da primeira maturação e determinação do tipo de desova, enquanto a variação do crescimento é estudada através da taxa de crescimento, obtida com a diferença entre dois comprimentos em intervalos de tempo de mesma duração.
Os resultados obtidos de uma no de coleta ( junho de 1986 a junho de 1987) de dados sobre o peso médio das gônadas em função do comprimento total, analisados graficamente demonstram um pico bem evidente aos 117,5 mm para fêmeas e aos 91,25 mm para os machos, sugerindo serem estes os tamanhos que ocorre a primeira maturação para ambos os sexos.
Analisando a relação gráfica dos dados obtidos entre peso médio das gônadas e meses do ano, observa-se um pico em agosto e outro em janeiro.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to enhanse the knowledge about the ecology and biology of the brown shrimp about (Penaeus subtilis) some aspects of the fishing and populations dynamics related to reproduction. The sampled specimens come from the localities of Arraial, Estiva, Pau Deitado and raposa in the São Luís Island, State of Maranhão, Brazil.
In the breeding study it was included the recognition of the sex, classification on the gonadal stages, estimation of the mean lengthat the first maturati and the determination of the Eype of spawning, while the seasonal variation of the growth was studied through the growth rate, obtained with the difference between two lengths in intervals of the same duration.
The results acquired in a year of collection from june, 1986 to June, 1987 show us that the mean weight of the gonads in function of the total length, demonstrate an that with those sizes occurs the first maturation in both females and males. Analyzing the graphic of the data between the mean weight of the gonads and the months of the year, it was observed a peak in August and another in January.
