NAÇÃO, IDENTIDADE E TERRAS INDÍGENAS NO BRASIL SETENTRIONAL

Resumo

Refletindo sobre aspectos importantes da identidade cultural e da nação em Roraima, a “Terra dos Makuxi”, visando chamar a atenção sobre as formas como o controle institucional sobre a população é exercido, o autor transita pela questão das características caribenhas que, ao longo do processo de colonização, incrustaram-se na cultura do extremo norte do Brasil, fortalecendo um processo intercultural atípico, onde a marca da hibridação é latente. Analisa, também, o autor, a característica fatalista do discurso dominante nesta região, levando o índio à auto exclusão como sujeito de seu próprio discurso.

Abstract

Reflecting on important aspectos of the cultural identity and the nation in Roraima. “Makuxiland”, aiming at to call the attention on the forms as the institucional control on the population it is exerted, the author transits for the question of the Caribbean characteristics that, to the long one of the settling process, had incrusted in the culture of the extremity north of Brazil, fortifying an atypical intercultural process, where the mark of the hibridation is latent. It analyzes, also, the author, the fatalista characteristic of the dominant speech in this region leading the indian to auto-exclusion as subject of its proper speech.
