A LITERATURA MARANHENSE NA HISTORIOGRAFIA LOCAL: representações e contradições

Resumo

Promove-se um debate com a historiografia literária tradicional acerca dos discursos cristalizados em relação à história da literatura maranhense, apresentando as interpretações mais conhecidas e as problemáticas e lacunas advindas dessas interpretações, analisando criticamente os conceitos de  geração,  ciclo  e  grupo, assim como as representações construídas como o de Atenas Brasileira,  literatura maior ou
menor, utilizados nos estudos que tratam do assunto. Dá-se destaque a literatura produzida no final do século XIX, no Maranhão, denominada de Literatura Neo-ateniense, o modo como é vista por esta historiografia e os discursos construídos por esse conjunto de literatos.

Abstract: It promotes a discussion with the traditional literary historiography about the fixed discourses regarding the history of maranhense literature, presenting the most popular interpretations and the problems and shortcomings that come with these interpretations, analyzing critically the concepts of generation, cycle and group, as well as representations built as the Brazilian Athens, good literature or bad literature, used in studies dealing with the matter. It gives prominence to the literature produced in the late  of  nineteenth century, in Maranhão, called Neo-ateniense  Literature, how it is viewed by history and the discourses constructed by these men of letters.
