Os estudos demonstram que apesar de ser um tema bem discutido, ainda abordam fatores importantes que favorecem o processo de desmame, portanto, ressalta – se que esses fatores precisam ser melhor  explorado pelos profssionais de  saúde. O  aleitamento materno  (AM)  é  a  estratégia que mais previne mortes infantis, além de promover a saúde física, mental e psíquica da criança. Esse estudo teve como objetivo identifcar a produção cientifca quanto  à  importância do AME, no período de 2008  a 2013. Realizou –  se, um  estudo de  revisão da  literatura sistemática  de  caráter  exploratório  com  abordagem  quantitativa  e  qualitativa. Os  dados  foram  obtidos  através  de  leitura exaustiva de cada artigo e visando identifcar as características e as estruturas. Constatou-se que não são poucos os estudos sobre o tema, mas os que foram encontrados afrmam que sobre o AME correspondente ao alimento ideal e completo com todos os nutrientes que os lactentes precisam para se desenvolverem durante os seis meses de vida, além do desenvolvimento <br />sócio-cognitivo.</p><p>Descritores: Enfermagem. Aleitamento materno exclusivo. Benefícios do AME.</p><p>Abstract</p><p>The  importance of  exclusive breastfeeding: A  systematic  literature  review. The  exclusive breastfeeding  is a fundamental practice to the children’s health, for provides everything a child needs to grow up and develop itself during <br />the  breastfeeding.  Studies  show  that,  a  although  being  a  very  talked  over  subject,  it  still  approaches  important  factors which facilitate the process of wean. Therefore, it enforces that these factors need to be much better exploited by the health professionals. The breastfeeding  is  the action which most prevents  infant deaths, besides promoting physical, mental and psych health of a child. The aim of this study was identifying the scientifc production related to the importance of exclusive breastfeding, during a period which reported from 2008 to 2013. It was done a review on the systematic literature of exploiting feature with quantitative and quantitative identifying the characteristics and structures. It was realized that the studies about the topic are not few, but those ones which found states that breastfeeding is the ideal and complete feed with all nutrients that babies need to develop themselves during their six-month old, besides their sociocognitive development.</p><p>Descriptors: Nursing.
